COMMUNITY
Gateway Community is our Missions Ministry of the Church and is all about ENGAGING YOUR WORLD. We are passionate about Jesus and He is passionate about “drawing all men until Himself”. We desire to Engage in our World as “together we are the difference”.
Local Community
Inner City Meals Program
This ministry provides free meals every Tuesday night at Myuna Way through a dedicated team who cook the meals in the day at Wollongong Church of Christ and then served from a food van which is towed to the park each week. This ministry has been operating for over 3 years and has made great inroads into the community by providing a central meeting point in which the residents can meet and form friendships. We have provided approximately 10,000 meals since the start of operation. The Department of Housing welcomes our presence and is providing a hall for us to establish further projects.

Breakfast Club School Programs
This program has been operating successfully for more than fours years at West Wollongong Public School and Wollongong High School. It provides healthy breakfasts to those that normally would not have any. It also establishes long term relationships with the children and one of the results has been some of the high school students attending our youth program.
Scripture Classes are held in several schools throughout the Illawarra
Wollongong Women's Housing
Wollongong Women’s Housing provides houses throughout the Illawarra for women and children who find themselves in difficult circumstances. They fully support the women and help them to eventually establish their own homes. Under the leadership of the Women’s Ministry, the church has conducted an Annual Fashion Parade for the last fours years. In total, these events have raised approximately $31,000 to help this vital organization. They have also conducted Pamper Days and helped with their Christmas Parties.
National Community
Indigenous Australia - Katherine
Ps Greg and Debbie Piper minister to the indigenous people at Katherine under the Australian Indigenous Ministries. They outreach to three communities and have had amazing success in raising up the local people to be leaders in their own communities and the church. A Missions Team visited the church in July for last two years and interacted with all the communities and witnessed first hand the successful work that has been achieved in a few short years. Another mission trip from Gateway will be visiting in July this year.

Global Community
Company of Grace - Vietnam
The Company of Grace in Vietnam reaches out to touch the lives of disabled children by training them in vocational work so they can become self supporting. With no intervention they would probably end up begging on the streets. Ps Peter Stone is the founder and leader of this ministry. Peter was himself a Vietnamese orphan with polio, who was adopted at the age of seven by an Australian family. He has now returned to Vietnam to contribute back to his country of origin. This ministry has bought a large parcel of land on the outskirts of Saigon City and has just completed a two storey building and is now ready to begin the training. This ministry also reaches out to the underprivileged of Vietnam. Gateway has now sent three mission trips to Vietnam who have met with Peter and worked on the property.

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Since 1993 they have been reaching out with the good news of God’s love to hurting children through the simplest of gifts – shoe boxes. These boxes are filled with school supplies, toys and personal items that are packed by caring people, these boxes help introduce children to the love and hope of Jesus Christ. Gateway has been involved with providing these boxes for the last several years.
Arise Asia
Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
This is a new initiative for Gateway for 2011 under the leadership of our Senior Pastor. It is about taking the gospel into the cities of Asia through large evangelistic crusades. The first crusade was held in January 2011 in the city of Davao, Philippines. This crusade was very successful in seeing over 800 salvations, miracle healings, a community transformation and successful leadership conference. A team of twenty people accompanied Ps Scott to support the crusade and it was a life changing experience for all those involved. A second missions trip went in January 2012 and was equally as successfull. The crusades and mission trips will be an ongoing outreach of Gateway.
